Dad’s Filled Coffee Cake

Ingredients
1/3 Cup of butter creamed
1 Cup white sugar
1 Cup brown sugar
3 Egg yolks, beaten
3 Cups all purpose flour sifted
3 Teaspoons of baking powder
3 Teaspoons cinnamon
3 Teaspoons allspice
1/8 Teaspoon nutmeg
1 Cup milk
1 Teaspoon vanilla
3 Egg whites, stiffly beaten
Directions
¾ Cup Brown sugar
3 Tablespoons flour
2 Tablespoons cinnamon
2 Tablespoons butter
1 Cup chopped nuts- walnuts
In a large mixing bowl add creamed butter and white and brown sugar mix well. Add the three egg yolks, the 3 cups of flour, baking powder, cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg. Fold (alternately) in the milk and mix by hand or in a mixer on low speed to blend.
Add the vanilla and the 3 beaten egg whites blend well. Pour one half of the mixture into a greased cake pan about 8X14X 2. In a bowl combine brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, butter and nuts, mix to blend. Add ½ this mixture to first half of batter and spread. Pour reaming mixture on top and add the remaining nut mixture on top, spread evenly. Bake at 375 oven for 45 minutes.
